The year for the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce was a good one. That was the assessment of Executive Director Rachel Hipsher at the annual Dinner Meeting Monday night at the Barn at Cocos Cafe and Wine Bar in downtown Lawrenceville. Hipsher said that the organization was involved in 10 business ribbon cuttings in 2019 and welcomed 8 new members. They also awarded two scholarships to students from Lawrence Unit 20 and Red Hill Unit 10. Special awards from the Chamber were presented to Veronica Kirkwood as Outstanding Citizen and to URCHOICE as the first ever Non-Profit of the Year. Kirkwood has been a longtime member of the Chamber with J.V. Pools and Spas while URCHOICE is a driving force behind the establishment of a Drug Court in Lawrence County.
