EARTHQUAKE IN SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS

The Wayne County Illinois Emergency Management Agency reports that an earthquake registering 2.5 on the Richter scale occured early Monday morning in southeastern Illinois. The quakes epicenter was near the Wayne County-Jefferson County line about 2.5 miles southeast of the town of Bluford and about 11 miles east of the city of Mount Vernon. There were no initial reports of damages.
