ILLINOIS UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN

The Illinois unemployment rate hit a historic low last month. The jobless rate for September dropped to 3.9% a new record for the state. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says a main factor in the drop was continued job growth. The national unemployment rate for September was 3.5%. Individual unemployment rates for counties in southeastern Illinois including Lawrence were not yet available for the IDES.
