A public hearing regarding a possible tax increase to help pay for expansion of the Knox County Indiana Jail is coming up later this month. The County Council met earlier this week and did discuss the possible use of a two tenths of a percent increase in residential taxes as a way to fund the expansion. The expansion is seen as being neccessary in the future with the continued housing of federal prisoners there along with an increasing general jail population. The money could also be used for other needed repairs at the facility. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th at 5 p.m. Eastern Time at the Vincennes City Hall.
