TWO BRIDGEPORT PEOPLE HURT IN ACCIDENT

Three people were injured including 2 Bridgeport residents in a single vehicle accident Saturday evening in Richland County. Illinois State Police report that a 1990 GMC Sierra truck being driven by 31 year old Dustin Kermicle of Olney was traveling north on Cottage Hill Road near Olney at a high rate of speed when he lost control.  The truck veered off the left side of the road and struck a ditch embankment. It then overturned onto its top. Kermicle along with his passengers 42 year old Mendi Williams and 31 year old Cody Cessna both of Bridgeport were hurt. Williams and Cessna were ejected from the vehicle and were lifeflighted to Deaconess Hospital In Evansville while Kermicle was taken by ambulance to Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. Alcohol was a factor in the mishap. Kermicle has been charged with DUI (alcohol), Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. Both Williams and Cessna could have charges against them pending completion of the accident investigation.
