Donald Gene Morgan, age 82, of Sumner, Illinois passed away at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois on September 20, 2019. He was born October 9, 1936 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Lozier Morgan and Gladys (Shultz) Morgan.

He was a sawmill worker and retired from Kelly’s Bandmill in Lawrenceville, and retired in 1999. After his retirement, he enjoyed working in his garden. Many friends and neighbors enjoyed his flowers. In 2004, he was honored by a newspaper article appearing in the Sumner Press which named him as having the best non-professional combination vegetable and flower garden in Lawrence County. He was a member of Claremont United Methodist Church.

Preceding Donald in death were his parents and one sister, Marjorie Morgan.

Survivors include one son, Tony Morgan of Bridgeport, Illinois; one daughter, Tammy Scott and husband, Brad, of Saint Francisville, Illinois; one brother, Virgil Morgan and wife, Rose, of Sumner, Illinois; one sister, Naomi Davis and husband, Perry, of Westfield, Illinois; four grandchildren: Corey Morgan and April Morgan of Bridgeport, Illinois, Jacqueline Scott and Bradley Scott, Jr. of Saint Francisville, Illinois; and four great-grandchildren: Xavier Morgan, Axel McCord, Braydon Cessna, and Preston Scott.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until the service hour. Burial will be in the Sumner City Cemetery. Memorial donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
