The Lawrence Unit 20 Board of Education has approved its 2019-20 district budget. The spending plan recieved a 7-0 vote after a public hearing Wednesday night. Superintendent Doug Daugherty indicated that the just under $12 million budget should have a $50,000 surplus if all goes well. The district is looking to improve it’s transportation fleet with the purchase of 1 bus and 2 vans this school term among major items. Unit 20 is also hosting a bus driver training session Saturday at Parkside Elementary in conjunction with Regional Office of Education #12. Anyone who is interested in being a full time or part time bus driver is invited to attend from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. There is a $10 cost involved.
