The fiscal condition of the City of Lawrenceville is good. That was the assessment of Curt Bensen of Kemper CPA after presenting the fiscal year audit report to the City Council Thursday night. The findings were approved and were pleasing to Mayor Don Wagner who praised city workers and department heads for their work at keeping spending in check. The Council also approved on first reading the Annual Tax Levy. It will be formally approved next month. Approved were the purchases of a new backhoe for the Utilities Department for approximately $93,000 and a new tractor for the Cemetery Department for about $22,000. A new ordinance governing yard and garage sales inside city limits was also approved that will go into effect October First. Police Chief Jim White also announced that trick or treat hours for the city will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday October 31st.
