The trade war between the United States and China continues to adversely affect farmers here in Illinois and across the nation. 15th District Republican Congressman John Shimkus was a participant in the Agriculture Policy meeting earlier this week at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur Illinois with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. He says that many farmers in his large district which includes Lawrence County are straddling the fence regarding their opinion of the ongoing trade war. Many want the President to come to an agreement soon while others say the U.S should hold its position and get the best deal possible.
