Wildas A. Christy, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born April 12, 1936 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Curtis “Turk” and Berneice J. (Johnson) Hill. She married Bob Christy on March 25, 1956, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2013.
Wildas worked as a Doctors Assistant for Dr. Tom Kirkwood, then as a bookkeeper for Christy Texaco as well as Lou’s in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was a director and leader for the Lawrence County Camp Fire Girls, a member of a card club, and was very active in her class reunions. Wildas is described as the anchor of Nob Hill. The children’s friends spent countless hours at the Christy residence while growing up.
Preceding Wildas in death were her parents and husband.
Survivors include: one son, Bob (Kristi) Christy of Sumner, Illinois; one daughter, Peggy (Dan) Frederick of Lawrenceville, Illinois; three sisters: Carolyn (Ed) Fitch of Champaign, Illinois, Julie (David) Shick of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Marilyn (Don) Wagner of Lawrenceville, Illinois; three grandchildren: Riley (Amber) Christy, Dana (Josh) Goodwin, Kaleb Christy; and one great-granddaughter, Rylan Goodwin.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or to Lawrence Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens.
