The Illinois Department of Employment Security has issued unemployment rates for July in southeastern Illinois. Figures indicate that joblessness rose from June to July in Lawrence County. The rate in July was 5.2% up from 4.9% in June. In Crawford County unemployment in July was 4.2% up from 4% in June. In Richland County unemployment in July was at 4% up from 3.8% in June and unemployment in Wabash County in July was 3.9% up from 3.6% in June. The IDES did say that unemployment in July of 2019 was lower for each of the counties than the rates in July of 2018.
