BAEZ POWERS CUBS OVER BREWERS

Javier Baez homered and doubled twice with 3 RBI and scored twice to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 6-2 win Friday over the Milwaukee Brewers in game one of their three game series at Wrigley Field. Jose Quintana helped the Cubs to the victory by limiting the Brewer offense to two runs while scattering seven hits over six plus innings. Jason Heyward also homered for the Cubs who pulled to within a half game of the idle St Louis Cardinals for first in the NL Central. With the loss the Brewers fall to 2 1/2 games out. Game two is Saturday afternoon with Cole Hamels (6-3) coming off the injured list going for the Cubs against Gio Gonzalez (2-1) for Milwaukee.
