Lowell Stout

Lowell E. Stout, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville TN with his family at his side. He was 94.

Lowell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, as well as a member of the Greatest Generation. He was a WWII vet who rose to the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Philippines.

His wife of 65 years, Joyce, preceded him in death in 2011. In November 2018 he moved to Somerville TN to be near his daughter and son-in-law.

Lowell and Joyce owned and operated the Stout Standard Service Station in Bridgeport for 19 years and then the True Value Hardware Store in Sumner for almost 15 years. They retired early to travel and saw much of the United States from coast to coast.

Lowell is survived by their 3 children, Julie (Roger) Meadows of Lakeland TN, Kent (Anita) Stout of Henderson NV, Marc (Patricia) Stout of Collinsville IL; 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Marnie) Stout, Ryan Stout, all of Los Angeles CA; Julie Ann (Dennis) Carter, of Alton IL; and 4 greatgrandchildren, Wyatt Stout, Eliza Carter, Kathryn Carter, and Dallas Stout.

Funeral services will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Tuesday, July 30, at 11:00 with visitation preceding starting at 10:00. Burial will follow at the Bridgeport City Cemetery (Shiloh).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to the Bridgeport Senior Center, 135 E. Olive St., Bridgeport IL 62417. After the death of his wife, they were his lifeline for meals until his move to TN.
