Pablo Sandoval homered with one out in the bottom of the 13th inning Tuesday night propelling the hot San Francisco Giants past the Chicago Cubs 5-4 at Oracle Park. His drive off of Cub reliever Brad Brach just cleared the left field fence and went to replay before being upheld to end the close to four hour game. It was the fifth extra inning game in the last eight for San Francisco and their fourth at home. The Cubs are now only 1/2 game ahead of the surging St Louis Cardinals for first place in the National League Central Division. They will try to avoid a sweep of the three game series Wednesday afternoon. The Cubs will send Jon Lester (9-6) to the mound against Tyler Beede (3-3) for the Giants.
