CUBS RALLY PAST PADRES BEHIND RIZZO

The Chicago Cubs improved to 6-1 since the All-Star break with a comeback victory Friday over the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field. The Padres led 3-0 before Anthony Rizzo hit his first homer in a month, a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning to help lead them to a 6-5 win. Javier Baez added a solo blast for the Cubs. The Cubs scored the game winning run in the eighth on an error by Padre first baseman Eric Hosmer. Manny Machado homered for the struggling Padres who have lost 11 of their last 15 games. Game two of the three game series is Saturday afternoon with Joey Lucchesi (7-4) scheduled to pitch for San Diego and Jose Quintana (7-7) for the Cubs.
