Joanne Brooke Diver, age 91 of St. Francisville, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Lawrenceville at the United Methodist Village-North Campus. She was born in St. Francisville on November 8, 1927 to Donald and Edith (Corrie) Brooke.
On November 27, 1947, Joanne married Joseph Diver. He preceded her in death in August of 1995.
Joanne graduated from St. Francisville High School in 1945. She then furthered her education at Eastern Illinois University for 2 years and Indiana State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree. For 30 years, Joanne was an educator in the Allendale School System and the Lawrenceville School System.
Joanne was a life-long member of the National Education Association, and she thoroughly enjoyed antiquing and traveling.
Surviving family includes: her daughter- Judith Phipps and her husband Jerry of St. Francisville: two grandchildren- John Phipps and his wife Sommer and Jill Irwin and her husband Aaron: and six great-grandchildren- Auston, Landon, and Lainey Phipps and Jake, Maggie, and Drew Irwin.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Donald and Edith Brooke: her husband- Joseph Diver: and her sister- Laura Edwards.
A memorial service will be held for Joanne Diver at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Cunningham Funeral Home is assisting the family.
