Jason Heyward hit a tiebreaking single to left in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs to propel the Chicago Cubs to a 4-3 win Friday afternoon over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. The winning rally began with a one out walk by Kris Bryant. He later moved to second on a two out walk to Victor Caratini and then hustled home on the Heyward hit and slid home just ahead of the tag at home plate. Bryant had homered earlier in the game and the Cubs led 3-0 until Starling Marte of the Pirates tied the contest with a late three run homer off Pedro Strop. The win enabled the Cubs to extend their lead in the NL Central after Milwaukee lost to San Francisco in extra innings Friday night. The two team play again Saturday afternoon with Jordan Lyles (5-5) going for the Pirates and Jon Lester (8-6) for the Cubs.
