KIMBRELL SAVES GAME AS CUBS RALLY OVER BRAVES

Victor Caratini’s two run homer capped a four run bottom of the fifth inning that put the Chicago Cubs ahead for good after they fell behind by five early and they went on to beat the Atlanta Braves 9-7 in the final game of their four game series at Wrigley Field Thursday afternoon. Kyle Schwarber also went deep and Jason Heyward drove in three runs to enable the Cubs to split the four game series between divisional leaders. The game also saw the debut of new Cub closer Craig Kimbrell who worked out of a ninth inning jam to record his first save with his new team.  The Cubs lead in the NL Central remains one over the Milwaukee Brewers. Its on to Cincinnati for the Cubs Friday night as they open a three game series with the Reds at the Great American Ballpark. The pitching pairing has Cole Hamels (6-2) going for the Cubs against Sonny Gray (3-5) for the Reds.
