WHITE SOX STRIKE LATE IN WIN OVER RIVAL CUBS

Eloy Jimenez hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday night to enable the Chicago White Sox to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in game one of their interleague crosstown series at Wrigley Field. Jimenez followed up a leadoff single by James McCann with a drive over the left field wall for the win snapping a 1-1 tie. The loss went to Pedro Strop in relief for the Cubs. Kyle Schwarber homered in the first for the only Cub run. The Cubs suffered their fourth loss in the last five games. They try to get back on track Wednesday night when they finish up the brief two game set. It will be Luis Giolito (10-1) for the Sox and Jon Lester (5-5) for the Cubs.
