Leslie “Les” Dunlap, Jr., 65, of Flat Rock, IL, died on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born July 7, 1953 in Lawrenceville, IL the son of Leslie Dunlap, Sr. & Grace America (Coonce) Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dennie Dunlap.
He is survived by his sons, Clayton & Alex Dunlap, Eric Dunlap, and Leslie Derek Dunlap; by his step-daughter, Holly & Tim Breeden; by his grandchildren, Gauge Orry Dunlap, Rozlyn Jolyn Sutton, Ashlee Clark, Dylan Dunlap, Logan Dunlap, Whitney Dunlap, Mariah Dunlap, Swade Brown, Morgan Dunlap, Colton Dunlap, Kristen Lewis, Hillary Lewis, and Amanda Boren; by his great-grandchildren, Natalyn, Parker, Jason, and Ryker; by his brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Cathy Dunlap; by his former spouses, Terresa (Conover) Shoulders and Donna Green; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Les grew up in the Flat Rock area. He worked a number of local jobs from concrete work for Gene Hayes Masonry, logging for George Wade, and breaking horses for Annice Miller. He was known as one of the best horsemen around. Away from working he enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He knew how to make anyone smile. Les will be remembered as a hardworking, outgoing man who always had your back.
A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Graveside services will immediately follow and will be held in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Memorials may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
