The Lawrenceville Baseball Indians have advanced in the Class 2A Newton Regional. The Tribe beat the Marshall Lions 7-1 Monday in the first round at Unit 20 Ballpark in Lawrenceville. Sophomore Ethan Kelly was solid on the mound in the win. He went all 7 innings and allowed 1 run on 5 hits, struck out 5 and walked 2. He recieved plenty of offensive support as the Indians scored their 7 runs on 8 hits. Eli Ivers and Connor O’Dell each had two hits on the day while Christian Beamon drove in two runs with a hit. Kelly also help himself with an RBI hit. The Lions did committ 5 errors to hurt their cause. With the win, the Indians are now 10-12 and will face top seed Robinson at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals at Jasper County Boys and Girls Park in Newton.
