Rodney Lee Higginbotham, age 53 of Mt. Carmel, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born in Mt. Carmel on December 28, 1965 to Thomas Ray Hedge and Donna Marie Higginbotham.
He married Carolyn Ann Miller Koons in Mt. Carmel on September 23, 2006, and she survives.
Rodney enjoyed hanging out with his friends, playing golf “Wii”, and drinking a “cold one”. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Eagles and Moose Lodge. As most of his family and friends know, his favorite thing was to yell at the kids. He wouldn’t discriminate…he would yell at his grandkids, neighborhood kids… ALL kids.
Surviving relatives include: his wife- Carolyn Higginbotham: two stepsons- Mike Koons and wife Pam of Grayville and Jason Koons of Ft. Meyers, FL: one stepdaughter- Rachael Walkenbach and husband Jonathan of West Salem: sisters- Willa Sutton and significant other David Helderman of Mt. Carmel and Tammy Weir and husband Kevin of Mt. Carmel: seven grandchildren: two great-grandchildren: three nieces: one nephew: one great-nephew: and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Dorothy Marie Rhoades.
There are no formal services planned at this time. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is assisting the family during their time of loss.
