Harold R. Jackman, age 93 years and 11 months, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born May 25, 1925 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of William D. and Florence (Marx) Jackman. He married Mary Edmondson on May 27, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2011.

Harold was a minister for over 50 years and a member of the Ste. Marie Pilgrim Holiness Church. Farming with his family and his cattle were very important to him. In his earlier years, he enjoyed rabbit hunting with his sons. And, in his later years, he enjoyed helping and ministering to people in the nursing homes. He served his country in the United States Navy in WWII, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary; and three sisters, Dorothy Askren, Thelma Kiser, and Hester Walls.

Survivors include three sons, Larry R. Jackman and wife, Ruth Ann of Sumner, Illinois, Stephen D. Jackman and wife, Sue of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Ronald P. Jackman and wife, Dinah of Sumner, Illinois; three daughters, Carol J. Jackman of Sumner, Illinois, Sharon K. Black and husband, Reverend Glenn D. Black, and Esther M. Devall and husband, Dan of Toledo, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Beulah United Methodist Church in Sumner, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the Pilgrim Holiness Missions. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
