QUINTANA SHUTS OUT PIRATES

Jose Quintana struck out 11 in seven innings of four hit baseball to help the Chicago Cubs blank the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 at Wrigley Field Thursday night. Daniel Descalso and Victor Caratini each had two hits and a RBI in the contest. Quintana improved to 1-1 with the win with Pedro Strop pitching the ninth inning for his first save of the season. The Cubs take two of three from the Pirates and will be home Friday to open up an interleague series against Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels. Pitching for L.A will be Tyler Skaggs (1-1) against Cole Hamels (1-0) for the Cubs. The game can be heard on Lite 103 WAKO beginning with the pre-game show at 12:45 p.m. Central Time.
