Kyle Schwarber blasted a two-run homer to lead the Chicago Cub offense as they blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates in the home opener at Wrigley Field Monday afternoon 10-0. The Cub bullpen was called upon to pitch four hit baseball over seven innings after starter Jon Lester had to leave the game with tightness in his left hamstring. Brad Brach picked up the win. The win snapped a four game Pirate winning streak. The Cubs were aided in the win by four errors-three by Pirate shortstop Kevin Newman. The Cubs and Pirates have the day off Tuesday and will resume the three game series Wednesday with the first night game of the home schedule. Catch the game on Lite 103 WAKO with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m. Central Time.
