SALUKIS END INDIAN SEASON; WILL PLAY FOR REGIONAL TITLE

The Red Hill Basketball Salukis outstanding season will continue. They remained alive in the post-season Wednesday with a semi-final win over their Lawrence County rivals the Lawrenceville Indians 56-47 at the Class 2A Mt Carmel regional. The Salukis trailed after one quarter 16-13 but took control of the contest with a strong second quarter and led 29-23 at the half. They expanded the lead to 45-31 after three quarters and held off the Tribe in the final quarter for their third win over the Indians this season. Parker Havill led the Saluki scoring with 23 points with Drew Moore adding 14 while the Indians were paced by Blayne Winningham with 15 points and Connor O’Dell had 11. With the victory the Salukis improve to 22-9 while the Indians bow out of the tournament series at 14-15. The Salukis will play for the tournament championship Friday at 7 p.m. when they face the host Mt Carmel Golden Aces at the Hilltop. One of the 22 Saluki wins came earlier this season in November over Mt Carmel 51-46 in the Capital Classic.
