Indiana State Police say an autopsy determined that the death of a woman whose body was found over the weekend in the Wabash River in western Indiana was consistent with drowning. Police say Vermillion County’s coroner earlier identified the body as that of 56-year-old Jeanne L. Stern of Clinton. Circumstances of her death weren’t immediately released. On Saturday, Chief Billy MacLaren of the Clinton City Police Department requested the assistance of Indiana State Police in reference to a death investigation of a woman found n the Wabash River near Riverside Cemetery within Clinton City limits. The manner of Stern’s death is pending the results of toxicology tests, but police said Monday there were no signs of foul play. An investigation is ongoing.
