The Vincennes City Council met in regular session Monday. The City Council voted 6-1 against a resolution opposing House Bill 1212. House Bill 1212 would end the mandatory publication of Sheriff’s Sale notices in newspapers. It would instead require the sales to be posted on either the Sheriff’s or county government Websites. Members of the City Council indicated they agreed with the opposition to the bill, but disagreed with the use of a resolution to oppose it, fearing it would set the wrong precedent. House Bill 1212 is currently being considered in the State Senate. The council also heard from a group of Vincennes residents regarding drainage issues from last week’s heavy rain. A storm came through the area last Thursday and dumped three inches of rain in a short time; causing the flooding of Forbes Road. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum said officials are looking to take care of those drainage issues by the start of summer at the latest.
