CASEY DOWNS STUBBORN INDIANS

The Casey-Westfield Warriors picked up their 23rd win against 3 losses Friday night at home on Senior Night against the Lawrenceville Basketball Indians but not without a battle. The favored Warriors made some key plays down the stretch in the fourth quarter and held off the Tribe 63-54. The game was tied at 15 after one quarter before the Warriors took a 34-29 lead at the half. They also led 51-45 after three quarters but again had to battle hard to beat the Indians and hand them their fourth straight loss. The Indians were paced by Blayne Winningham with 16 points while Zeus Marsh added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Casey was led by the strong inside game of big center Luke Richards who also had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds while guard Will Hosselton had 18 points including four three point field goals. The Indians did win a tight JV contest 53-52 with  Dayman Parkman scoring 16, Skyler Tewell 12 and Cale Powell 11. The varsity Indians are now 12-14 and will step out of conference on Tuesday traveling to Carmi-White County.
