Marjorie Ann Layman, age 73, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born October 17, 1945 in Sumner, Illinois, the daughter of Perry and Sarah (Creech) Layman.

Marjorie worked as a clerk for the Secretary of State Office in Springfield, Illinois. After she moved back to the area, she worked in housekeeping and dietary at various local nursing homes; as well as for DORS. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was a deaconess and enjoyed the fellowship and actives. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, bird watching, rummage sales, and classic country music. She loved children and her cats.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two half-brothers, Charles Layman and Glen Layman; and one half-sister, Effie Gariepy.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Burgess and husband, Van, of Westminster, Colorado; two nephews, Brian Burgess and Eric Burgess; one niece, Suzanne Jennison and husband, Matthew; five great nephews and nieces, Caleb Burgess, Ethan Burgess, Hannah (Nathan) Craig, Emma Jennison, and Benjamin Burgess; and three great-great nephews and nieces, Wyatt Burgess, Peyton Craig, and Caiden Craig.

Graveside services will be Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the White House Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
