The Lawrenceville Basketball Indians held off the Robinson Maroons in overtime Friday evening to win the Little Illini Conference Tournament consolation bracket championship 71-64. The Tribe got off to a fast start and led 22-13 after one quarter of play. The Maroons rallied in the second quarter to cut the lead to 28-27 at the half. The Indians emerged from the locker room to spurt to a 43-34 lead after three quarters, but the pesky Maroons clawed back in the fourth quarter and caught the Indians at 59 all at the end of regulation forcing the overtime period. The Indians then hit some key hoops and free throws in the extra frame to pick up the win. Zeus Marsh led a balanced Indian attack with 19 points, Blayne Winningham had 18, Connor O’Dell 17, and Cale Powell added 10. With the victory, their third in a row and second over Robinson this season, the Indians improve to 12-10 and will next see action Tuesday when they head to Mt Carmel for non-conference play.
