Local Democratic Party leaders appointed Traci Breece to fill the Vincennes City Council seat left vacant by the passing of Jim Westfall during their caucus Monday. Westfall died on Christmas Eve in Indianapolis.
Breece was the only person to register to fill the seat before last Monday’s noon deadline. Breece is a special education teacher at North Knox Junior/Senior High School, and previously worked as a transition coordinator at KCARC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Indiana State University and a Master’s degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Breece will serve the remaining year of Westfall’s term. She will officially be sworn in when the council meets again on Monday.
