SLOW START DOOMS INDIANS AT MARSHALL

The Marshall Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and used their size inside to beat the Lawrenceville Basketball Indians 69-52 Tuesday night at Don McNary Gym in Marshall. The hosts led 20-10 after one quarter and 44-21 at the half. The Tribe did make an effort to get back in the game in the third quarter whittling the lead down to 12 but a spurt by the Lions put them up 56-42 after three and they cruised to the win. The Indians were led by Cale Powell of the bench with 14 points, Connor O’Dell added 13 and Jordan Jones 12. The Indian JV were winners 60-48. Logan Williams had 13, Skyler Tewell 12, and Powell and Daymon Parkman each had 10. With the loss, the Indians fall to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.  Marshall improves to 13-5 and 3-1 in the LIC. The Indians will be back at home Friday to host Newton.
