Anna Christine Wilkes Seed

Ann left this life at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield, Illinois for a better place on August 9, 2018. She was 101 years young.

She was born on November 14, 1916 in Vincennes, Indiana to Margaret Thompson Wilkes and Milton Siviah Wilkes. She had one sister, Dorothy May Wilkes Wittenmeyer; six brothers, Dale, Pete, Jiggs, Bill, Earl, and PeeWee Wilkes, all of whom preceded her in death. She had two daughters, Lynne (Lynna Rae) Seed Price and Judy Ann Seed Myles (deceased); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also had a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Ann grew up in Vincennes and worked at Dumes until she met and married Robert (Bob) K. Seed of Lawrenceville, Illinois on January 17, 1941 in Georgia just before Bob was sent overseas during WW II. She was a gentle, caring mother, and a great Army wife, living in many states and in Japan twice. They retired to Florida and after Bob’s death in 1997, Ann moved to Branson, Missouri and then to Springfield, Illinois.

She was full of life and loved learning about new things; she enjoyed fresh cut flowers and loved to read. She treasured each and every one of her family. It was her wish that her death and burial not be a somber occasion, but that is be celebratory in nature and that there be no place for sadness, only joy and love.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1 pm until 3 pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She will be buried immediately afterward at Zion Cemetery, south of Lawrenceville.
