The Mt Carmel Lady Golden Aces basketball team spoiled the season and home opener for the Lawrenceville Lady Indians Monday night at LHS. The visitors won the JV contest 29-18. The varsity game was tight through halftime with the Lady Aces leading 11-10 after one quarter and 25-23 at the half. They gradually began to pull away in the early stages of the third quarter and led 46-37 entering the fourth quarter and finished with a 66-53 win. Three were in double digits for the Lady Indians-Sydni Williams led the way with 19 points, Jayley Akers added 14 and Katelyn Higginbotham 11. The 0-1 Lady Indians remain at home Thursday when they host the Red Hill Lady Salukis in a Lawrence County battle.
