Kyle Hendricks pitched eight effective innings and Kris Bryant homered after a two game absense to lead the Chicago Cubs to an 8-4 win over the St Louis Cardinals in game one of their three game season-ending series at Wrigley Field Friday afternoon. Bryant’s over 440 foot blast to center field came off Cardinal starter and loser Adam Wainwright who went only five innings. Daniel Murphy also had two hits for the Cubs and drove in a run. The win enable the Cubs to maintain a one game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the NL Central Division title with two games to play. Game two is an early afternoon start Saturday with 17 game winner Miles Micholas going for the Cards against Cole Hamels for the Cubs.
