John Thomas Hartz 77 of Bridgeport passed away with his loving family at his side on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
He was born on February 4, 1941 to Mary Elizabeth (Loveless) Hartz and William “Jack” Hartz at home in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
John married the love of his life Karen Kay (Gaither) Hartz on August 24, 1963 in the Free Methodist Church in Bridgeport, Illinois.
John worked for the Fairfield Inn which is part of the Marriott Corporation for many years in Bloomington, Illinois.
He was a long time and dedicated member of the Free Methodist Church in Bridgeport.
John was a loving husband father and grandfather.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and his best furry friend Buddy. His hobbies included collecting die cast classic cars and model trains.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen, his 3 children Cathy Hartz of Lawrenceville, Lisa Lemeron and husband Chuck of Bridgeport, and Greg Hartz of Bridgeport, 4 grandchildren Danielle (Lemeron) Kiser and husband Levi of Bridgeport, Tina Kaufman of Bloomington, Illinois, Steven Hartz, of Lawrenceville, Joey Hartz, of Bridgeport and 1 great-grandson Jaxon Kiser of Bridgeport and his loyal furry baby Buddy.
John was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Sarah Sue Denind, Mary E. Hartz (infant) and 1 brother Arthur Guy Hartz.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Glasser Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Adam Strauser and Pastor Joe Latson officiating.
The Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Glasser Funeral Home.
The Burial will be in the Bridgeport Township Cemetery.
The Family has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Glasser Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
