SALUKIS HANDLE NEWTON ON HOMECOMING

Drew Moore rushed for 134 yards and two TDs and also caught a TD pass to help lead the Red Hill Salukis to a 30-6 win Friday night over the Newton Eagles in Newton. The victory spoiled Homecoming for the host team. The game was scoreless after one quarter before the Dawgs began to assert control and take a 16-0 halftime lead. They added another score in the third quarter to lead 24-0 after three and cemented the contest with a Gavin Volkman 1 yard TD run in the fourth. The Eagles did avoid being shut out when they scored in the final minute. The Salukis are now 4-1 and Newton falls to 3-2. The Salukis are off till next Saturday when they travel to Farmer City (Blue Ridge) for an afternoon non-conference game.
