Everett Leroy ‘Buster’ Taylor left this earth to enter his Heavenly Home on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Buster was born on May 17, 1936 in Oblong, Illinois, to Charles Sheridan and Bertha Ann Taylor.

Buster grew up in Hardinville, Illinois, and after graduating from Oblong High School, he went to Chauncey, Illinois to assist his Uncle Harold Wartsbaugh with farm duties for the summer season. He enjoyed farming and moved in to his uncle’s home. He loved to hang out at Klondyke with friends and neighbors at Frank Bishop’s country store (as did many) to play checkers, chat, play pranks, drink sodas, and eat bologna sandwiches and candy bars. It was there that he met his bride, Loretta Kathryn Littlejohn. After two years of courtship, they married in Carmi, Illinois on March 8, 1955.

Buster left farming and joined the Illinois Gas Company in 1958 and was employed with the gas company until 1987, when he left to work Marathon Oil Company. Buster retired from Marathon Oil Company on December 31, 1995, due to an employment related accident.

Buster began managing the Ultimate Car Wash from the day it opened and loved being there with the daily maintenance and interacting with both the old and new customers.

Buster and his wife, Loretta, both hold their church memberships with Island Free Methodist Church.

Buster was the proud father of one son, Robert Leroy. Robert was taken to his heavenly home on May 16, 1998.

Buster had a generous nature and a genuine interest in people. Buster’s passion was working hard and loving his family. He wanted to make a difference in the lives of all of those that crossed his path. He always put others before himself. He shared a deep, enduring and lasting friendship with many. Buster had a boyish, mischievous charm that made others glad to see him. He loved people and loved life.

Buster was preceded in death by his only son, Robert Leroy; his parents; one sister; and one sister-in-law.

Buster cherished his grandchildren, Jerrod Thomas Taylor and his wife, Megan Neeley Taylor of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Justin Robert Taylor of Lawrenceville, Illinois. Buster also took great pride and joy and especially loved his great-grandchildren, Harlan Robert, Lewis Anson and Ivy Jean Taylor, whom he leaves behind. Buster also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Debbie Taylor Roberts and her husband, Charles ‘Shindy’ Roberts of Lawrenceville, Illinois, along with three brothers and their spouses, Leon and Becky Taylor of Robinson, Illinois, Earl Taylor of Robinson, Illinois, and Bryl and Billie Taylor of Flat Rock, Illinois; and one sister and her husband, Inez and Joe Newbold Lawrenceville, Illinois. He also leaves behind loving sister and brothers-in-law, Carl and Karla Littlejohn of Chauncey, Illinois, Bonnie and Jack Judy of Newton, Illinois, and Alice and Paul Roark of Bridgeport, Illinois. He also leaves behind many special loving nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves many friends.
