Heath Fillmyer allowed three singles over seven innings for his first major league win as the Kansas City Royals shutout the Chicago Cubs 9-0 in their interleague series finale Wednesday at Kaufmann Stadium. Fillmyer was backed by the offense of Adalberto Mondesi and Drew Butera who each drove in three runs. Jose Quintana was the starter and loser for the Cubs who took two of three. He allowed five runs on six hits and two walks. The win snapped a six game Royals losing streak. The Cubs are idle Thursday. They return to National League action Friday when they open a three game weekend series with the Washington Nationals at Wrigley Field.
