BAEZ THE FORCE BEHIND CUB WIN OVER KANSAS CITY

Javier Baez homered and doubled in another run Monday night to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals in interleague action at Kaufmann Stadium. Baez hit his 25th roundtripper in the top of the sixth inning to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead and drove home Jason Heyward in the top of the eighth for his National League leading 88th RBI. Cole Hamels moved to 2-0 since being picked up in the trade with Texas last month. He went six innings allowing one run and seven hits. Game two of the series is Tuesday night with Mike Montgomery (3-4) pitching for the Cubs and Brad Keller (4-4) for KC.
