Three Injured in Crash Following Clay County Chase

accident-4-3

Three people were injured following a police chase in Clay County, Illinois Tuesday evening. Clay County authorities were searching for 35 year-old Nicholas A. McCarty of Louisville, who was a person of interest in a theft case and wanted on multiple warrants. McCarty was spotted as the passenger of a white 2006 Dodge Charger driven by 29 year-old Jamie N. Colclasure of Edgewood. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, Colclasure fled. Colclasure continued through the stop sign at the intersection of Kinmundy Road and Bethel Drive, west of Louisville, and struck a westbound blue Chevrolet Silverado pulling a black 2007 Jerry trailer driven by 43  year-old Gabe Blair of Louisville. The Charger came to rest in the ditch on the right side of the roadway, while Blair’s truck rolled over. Clay County Ambulance transported Blair to Clay County Hospital, where he was treated and released. Colclasure and McCarty were flown by Air-Evac to separate hospitals for treatment of their injuries. McCarty was released and is now in the Clay County Jail on a Department of Corrections parole violation, a Clay County warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of meth manufacturing materials and an Effingham County warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of marijuana. Colclasure remains at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and in custody of the sheriff’s office on a charge of aggravated fleeing from police. She is currently on bond in an Effingham County case charging possession of less than 5 grams of meth and theft. She allegedly had the drug and stolen checks on April 5th.
