The office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and Governor Bruce Rauner announced Tuesday the recipients of the Small Firefighting and Ambulance Service Equipment Grant Program, also known as the Small Equipment Grant Program. In total, 100 fire departments and non-profit ambulance services across Illinois received grants for the purchase of safety equipment, protective clothing, breathing apparatus and other needed tools. Among them is the Christy Fire Protection District, which will receive $26,000. The money for the grant comes from the Fire Prevention Fund. The grants total $2.2 million.
