An attorney for the United Methodist Village has made a statement regarding reports of financial difficulties after word surfaced of paychecks bouncing. Nick Lynn said the problems stemmed from late payments from Medicare and Medicaid as well as a change in billing companies. Lynn said employees with checks can cash them since the money is now available. Lynn emphasized there is no financial crisis at the United Methodist Village. He did confirm that a number of staff members quit and that their vacancies were being filled by former employees and volunteers.  The Illinois Department of Health has confirmed that they are investigating the situation. The United Methodist Village has facilities at 1616 Cedar Street and 2101 James Street as well as the Southern Meadows Estates independent living facility.
