A Posey County woman accused of murdering her husband made her first court appearance Monday morning. 45 year-old Peggy Higginson was arrested over the weekend. Peggy is accused of killing her husband, 48-year-old Troy Higginson, in a deadly domestic dispute shooting late Thursday night. Deputies say they found Troy Higginson in the driver’s seat of a car in the middle of Wade Road with a gunshot wound to his chest. Reports say he filed for divorce in March and again in April. A final hearing for that divorce was scheduled for this week. The judge read the charges against Peggy Higginson in court Monday. The judge entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on her behalf and also informed her that she would be appointed a public defender. The state requested that Higginson continue to be held in the Posey County jail without bond, which was agreed upon by the judge. Peggy Higginson is scheduled to be back in court on September 18th.
