Mike Montgomery pitched two hit baseball into the sixth inning and Anthony Rizzo went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI as the Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-0 in game 1 of their three game series at PNC Park. Montgomery retired the first 13 batters he faced before giving up a hit in the fifth. He struck out 5 and allowed no walks. Addison Russell added a pinch hit homer for the Cubs. Montgomery was pitching in place of the injured Yu Darvish and improved to 1-1. Pirate starter and loser Chad Kuhl is now 4-3. Game two is Tuesday night under the lights as Jon Lester (4-2) will go for the Cubs and rookie Nick Kingham (2-1) pitches for Pittsburgh.
