Gerald Scott Lane

Gerald Scott Lane, age 100 of Manteno and formerly of St. Francisville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Veteran’s Home in Manteno. He was born April 17, 1918 in St. Francisville to Royse Davis Lane and his wife Edith Mae (Tarpley) Lane.

Gerald married Helen L. Weeden in Henderson, KY in July of 1940. They were married 53 years, and she preceded him in death in November of 1993.

As a young man, he served his country during WWII as a member of the Unites States Army Airforce. He was a long-time member of the St. Francisville Christian Church. Gerald was a former Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge #912 of St. Francisville. He had worked as a pipefitter, an insurance agent for MFA, and Supervisor of the Illinois Highway Department in the Lawrence County District.

Surviving family includes: his son-in-law- Richard Bogardus of Kankakee: his sister- Judith Caldwell of Washington, IN: three grandchildren- Meredith Owens and husband Jason, Regan Kendregan and husband Scott, and Andrew Bogardus and wife Melissa: and six great-grandchildren- Nick and Jacob Owens, Caleb and Aaron Kendregan, and Brayden and Logan Bogardus.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Royse Davis Lane and Edith Mae Lane: his wife of 53 years- Helen L. Lane: and two daughters- Roberta Sue Bogardus and one in infancy.

A funeral service for Gerald Scott Lane will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the St. Francisville Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery.
