Sentencing took place in Lawrence County Circuit Court Monday for a Bridgeport woman charged in the death of a West York man in a two-vehicle accident last November. A Jeep Wrangler driven by 22 year-old Alicia D. Stephens of Bridgeport was westbound on U.S. 50 last November when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 38 year-old Rodney S. Stephens of West York. Rodney Stephens was killed in the collision. Alicia Stephens was found guilty on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs. Alicia Stephens was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. That will be followed by two years of mandatory supervised release. Alicia Stephens is also required to pay fines as well as court costs. As part of a negotiated plea agreement, two other charges against her were dropped. Stephens was given credit for time already served in the Lawrence County Jail. She was remanded into the custody of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
