David Alan Carter, Sr., age 67 of rural Sumner, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born June 30, 1950 in Vincennes, IN to Raymond Carter and his wife Norma (Umfleet).
David married Constance “Connie” Perry in Lawrenceville on December 20, 1969, and she survives.
For many years he worked for local oil production companies as a driller. David enjoyed fishing and was an avid pool player.
Surviving family includes: his wife- Constance “Connie” Carter of rural Sumner: two children- David A. Carter, Jr. and his wife Laura of Bridgeport and April Shoulders and her husband Pete of Chauncey: three grandchildren- Clayton Mason, Samantha Mason, and Sabrina Carter: one sister- Linda Rankin and her husband Jim of Bridgeport: and three nephews- Larry Banks, Doug Banks, and Mike Street.
He was preceded in death by: his parents- Raymond Carter and Norma (Umfleet) Gosnell: and one sister- Elizabeth “Libby” Clark.
As per David’s wishes, cremation will take place with no formal services scheduled. Cunningham Funeral Home is assisting the family.
