A Richland County man was killed in an ATV accident over the weekend in rural Lawrence County. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Lawrence County Ambulance Service were called out Saturday afternoon to a farm field just north of Boot Hill Road, west of the Embarras River and northwest of Lawrenceville.  That’s where they found 19 year old Benjamin D. Dowty of rural Claremont. Dowty had been riding an ATV, when he reportedly struck a ditch area and the ATV overturned. Dowty was transported to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries.
